PMH Receives Roof Aid
The Chronicle - April 23/2004
At a brief handing over ceremony held at the Princess Margaret Hospital last week Wednesday, a check of $25,000 was presented to the hospital’s administration on behalf of Dominica Colgate Palmolive (DCP).
The check, which was presented by the Director of Manufacturing at DCP, Patrick Pemberton will go towards the hospital’s Trust Fund and the repair and maintenance of the dilapidated Dawbiney ward roof.
According to Pemberton, the management of DCP was responding to an article in The Chronicle entitled ‘Leaky roof causes patients discomfort’, dated March 26th, 2004. In the article, the hospital’s administration described the deplorable conditions of the roof of the Dawbiney ward. Pemberton stated that DCP’s management was ‘touched’ by the article and saw it fit to demonstrate their good cooperate citizenship.
Minister of Health, Herbert Sabaroche, who accepted the check on behalf of the hospital, stated that this donation coincided well with World Heath Day which was also celebrated last week Wednesday.
Hospital Services Coordinator, Marvlyn Birmingham told The Chronicle that since the article appeared in the paper donations from various organisations have definitely increased. She expressed her gratitude to DCP for the donation and indicated that repairs to the roof of the ward are expected to commence sometime later this month.

Medical supplies for PMH
The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) will benefit from a 40 cubic foot container of medical supplies valued US$176, 000 and donated by Dr. Azzam Baker who is based in the United States.
The supplies were presented by Mr. Franklin Baron on Dr. Baker’s behalf, while Health Minister Herbert Sabaroche received the contribution on behalf of the hospital during a short ceremony on Monday at the PMH. Among the supplies were pressure pumps, sterile respiratory therapy filters and airlife volume ventilator circuits.
